Check it out: POP toys 1/6th scale Water Monster Jumpsuit for 12-inch action figures

Posted on 18:49 by Unknown
Product list: 01 x hood / cap, 01 x jumpsuit and 01 pair shoes. 12-inch Figure and 1/6 dive mask NOT included. It's about time :) I have a number of figures that need this badly due to disintegrating rubber dive suits that have dried up and cracked over time. Certainly will be picking this up. Probably will need more than one set too but hey, beats spending good money on expensive figure stands ;p (see earlier post)

Okay, I don't know why this is called "Water Monster" by Pop toys but I'm thinking something was lost in translation ;p it happens. Anyway, this looks pretty good and I for one am looking forward to these.

The traditional rubber material used for making these SCUBA diving suits have not fared well over time and many have dried up and cracked. Fabric cloth is still best but that would not work at all for authenticity and realism when it comes to diving suits.

These new skin-tight diving suits look like they could last longer and fare better than past issues but it's a case of wait-and-see. Still, new suits are better than no suits ;p

For those who missed out on Hot Toys Wolverine - there's Toys Box 1/6th scale Wolfman figure

Posted on 16:26 by Unknown
For those who missed out on the Hot Toys X-Men Origins 1/6th scale Wolverine 12-inch figure (reviewed HERE), there's this upcoming release from Toys Box called 1/6 Wolfman. It's basically a Wolverine wannabe without his shirt and jacket (check out pictures of the Hot Toys version HERE). I suppose Toys Box is going for something different with the snarling head sculpt but I for one do not like these overtly expressive heads. But that's just my personal preference ;p Some people will find this alternate head sculpt a good addition.

Toys Box 1/6th scale Wolfman will come with 1/6th scale head sculpt, one pair of hands with Claws, soldier dog tags, sweat shirt / undershirt, Jeans, belt with buckle, one pair boots. NOTE: No 12-inch figure body is included. This is just a head with clothes set, plus the necessary claws to turn this piece into a WOLFMAN.

No news yet on release dates nor pre-orders but the price is being set at USD119.90 without shipping. Me thinks that's a lot to ask for an unlicensed product without much accessories or clothes :( Doesn't even come with a body which would set you back some. All in, not really value-for-money IMHO

The Dark Knight Manual: Tools, Weapons, Vehicles and Documents from the Batcave

Posted on 16:25 by Unknown
This hardcover book should be in every Batman fan's possession :) especially if you are a BIG FAN of Christopher Nolan's BATMAN: The Dark Knight film trilogy. But that's just my opinion ;p You'll just have to get it and see for yourself.

In 2005, filmmaker Christopher Nolan redefined Batman for a new generation with Batman Begins, followed in 2008 by The Dark Knight, and now 2012’s conclusion to the trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises. Here, for the first time, is an in-world exploration of Christopher Nolan’s Batman: The Dark Knight Manual, the definitive guide to his tools, vehicles, and technologies.

Cover of the Dark Knight Manual

Following the destruction of Wayne Manor, Bruce Wayne began to assemble key sketches, diagrams, observations, and other top-secret documents germane to becoming Batman; he then entrusted this manual to his faithful butler, Alfred. Every defining moment is detailed here, charting Wayne’s collaborations with Lucius Fox at Wayne Enterprises on the latest cutting-edge technology.

inside page of The Dark Knight Manual

Featuring removable documents, including the design and capability of the famed utility belt, the hi-tech functions of Batman’s cowl, and every detail of his amazing arsenal of weapons and gadgets, The Dark Knight Manual reveals how Bruce Wayne operates as Gotham’s greatest protector.

The Dark Knight Manual includes Bruce Wayne's access card

"The Dark Knight Manual: Tools, Weapons, Vehicles and Documents from the Batcave" hardcover book contents include training, base of operations, the Batsuit, Dark Arsenal, Vehicles which cover the Tumbler, Bat-pod and "The Bat" flying vehicle. The last section Profiles feature case files for The Joker and Dr. Crane, as well as hospital records for Harvey Dent, among the list of characters who play a majot part in the trilogy storyline.

Bat Cowl technical specifications and drawings

Besides the standard printing for a book, extras have been added in the form of notes pasted over the pictures / diagrams to add a little bit more realism to it, as if Bruce Wayne himself put everything together :)

Click on the pictures to get a BIGGER and BETTER view

Batman's Dark Arsenal is covered in much detail and there's an insert booklet of Wayne Enterprises Applied Sciences Division Magnetic Grappling Gun / Harness + Belt. A manual within a manual. One of the major disappointment was the lack of details on the EMP Device / Gun :( The sonar aspect of the cowl was also not presented in detail but just a brief mention.

Sticky Bomb Gun Specs and Description

The section on Vehicles covers the Tumbler Specifications (quite a number of pages are devoted to it)

The Bat-pod (described in "The Dark Knight Manual: Tools, Weapons, Vehicles and Documents from the Batcave" hardcover book as Tumbler Escape Pod)

The Bat gets its share in the Manual as well

The book's section on Profiles is a who's who of the main characters that have played an influential part in all three of Christopher Noland's Batman films including Harvey Dent / Two-Face,

The Joker,

and Selina Kyle / Catwoman.

There are also a list of removable inserts which include The Cave blueprints, Bat Signal Stickers / Decals, The Bat (flying vehicle) blueprints, Gotham Police Dept. stickers, Harvey Dent campaign stickers, 8 Joker cards and Map of Gotham City. There is also a hidden disc behind the folder on the last page. The code for the disc is found on Bruce Wayne's access card (shown in the third picture from the top). The disc includes 14 high-res images.

Note: There are many other inserts (such as photographs, case files, post-it notes etc.) included, but they are not designed to be removed from the book.

Overall, "The Dark Knight Manual: Tools, Weapons, Vehicles and Documents from the Batcave" hardcover book is packed so full of stuff that you'll find yourself just turning the pages and going over every single detail and appreciating the amount of work they put into making this Manual possible and enjoying every minute of it :) Who says books are a thing of the bygone era?

Pre-order DAM Toy 1/6th U.S. Navy SEAL Recon Team Corpsman 12-inch Military Figure

Posted on 16:37 by Unknown
DAM had already previewed the first 12-inch SEAL figure of their Recon Team some time back in May (see my post HERE) and now this will be their second Navy SEAL Recon Team military figure and it's going to be a Corpsman :)

A US Navy Hospital Corpsman (HM) is an enlisted medical specialist for the United States Navy who serves with Navy and United States Marine Corps units. The Hospital Corpsman works in a wide variety of capacities and locations, including shore establishments such as naval hospitals and clinics, aboard ships, and as well as the primary medical caregivers for sailors while underway. Hospital Corpsmen are frequently the only medical care-giver available in many fleet or Marine units on extended deployment. [source: wiki]

Going by what they wear and what they carry plus the resemblance to certain actors, this U.S. Navy SEAL Recon Team looks like the one from the 2003 American war film "Tears of the Sun" which was about a United States Navy SEAL team rescue mission amidst a civil war in Nigeria.

The Dam Toy 1/6th scale US Navy SEAL Recon Team Pointman 12-inch Figure has already been shown to be Johnny Messner who played GMC Kelly Lake: Lead Scout / Rifleman for Bruce Willis' SEAL team. This second DAM SEAL Recon Team Corpsman 12-inch figure is supposed to be Paul Francis as HM2 Danny "Doc" Kelley: Corpsman / Rifleman and I think that is a pretty good likeness.

DAM Toy 1/6th scale U.S. Navy SEAL Recon Team Corpsman 12-inch Military Figure will come with real-like head sculpt with head band, 12-inch action figure body, black T-shirt, SOF woodland camo battle dress uniform with SDU-5e strobe light, BDU belt, OMEGA grenade vest, CQB S belt, Acadia boots, Motorcycle gloves, wrist wear

He has with him his 2QT canteen and canteen cover, Spear ELCS ammo pouch, double pistol magazine pouch, AN/PRC-148 radio and pouch, LASH I headset

He is armed with the SOPMOD M4 carbine with M203 grenade launcher, backup iron sight, COMP M2 red dot sight, M203 leaf sight, RIS rail panel, 3-point rifle sling, sling adaptor, M4 5.56 magazine x 3, 40mm HE grenade x 8, MK24 mod 0 pistol, 9mm pistol magazine x 3, pistol holster, AK-47 assault rifle, AK-47 sling, M67 frag grenade x 2, M18 smoke grenade x 2, SOG x42 combat knife

The best part about this set is that this 12-inch Corpsman actually comes with a 1562b medical backpack packed with medical supplies :) The first-aid kit comprises: skin cleansing alcohol wipe x 3, health-care anti-septic towelette x 2, sterile burn sheet, celox granules A, hemostatic granules B, emergency bandaid A, emergency bandaid B x 2, face shield, surgical gloves

The 1/6th scale Corpsman's surgical instruments include: needle holder, mayo scissors, metzenbaum scissors, mosquito hemostats, kelly hemostats, rochester carmalts, scalpel handle and blade, adson forceps

You don't have to know how those things are supposed to work or what they are to be used for :) It's just proper that a Corpsman should have his medical stuff with him. Most of the 1/6th scale Corpsman released so far are only Corpsman by name as they don't have a single medical tool / kit to their name. The last figure I have that was well equipped medically was Dragon Models (DML) World War II Combat Medic 'Doc Peterson', released in 2003 (You can see the pictures HERE)

After releasing six figures from the "Black Hawk Down" movie (two 1/6th scale U.S. Army Rangers and four Delta Force Special Ops 12-inch figures), it looks like DAM Toy is going to release the SEAL team from "Tears of the Sun" next, with this Corpsman being the second team member to be previewed / released.

DAM Toy hasn't shown us their SEAL team leader / commander figure of Bruce Willis as Lieutenant A.K. Waters but that figure had already been released by Art Figures :) See the pictures HERE

You can pre-order this DAM Toys 1/6th scale U.S. Navy SEAL Recon Team Corpsman 12-inch Military Figure from TFH (The Falcon's Hangar)

Rachel Dawes to Bruce Wayne: It's not who you are underneath, it's what you do that defines you.

Posted on 17:52 by Unknown
AURORA, Colo. - Batman star Christian Bale visited survivors of the Colorado theater shooting Tuesday, and thanked medical staff and police officers who responded to the attack that killed 12 people and injured 58 others. Bale visited with little advance warning and also stopped by a makeshift memorial to victims near the movie theater that was showing "The Dark Knight Rises" when the gunfire erupted.

Janie Bowman-Hayes, assistant vice president of surgical services at sister hospital Swedish Medical Center, said she and co-workers were attending a luncheon at The Medical Center of Aurora to thank staff who tended to victims. "When we got there, then we found out he was there," she said.

Bale, humble and dressed casually in a black T-shirt and jeans, thanked the staff, shook hands and agreed to have his photo taken with employees, Bowman-Hayes said. "He just said he wanted to come to thank all of us because he has been thinking about this. He knows the whole world has been thinking about this," she said. "He took it upon himself to come and thank us."

Bale also stopped by a growing memorial near the theater and walked among the 12 crosses erected for each of the slain victims. Many people there didn't realize who he was or chose to leave him alone. A Warner Bros. spokeswoman told The Denver Post that Bale was representing himself, not the movie studio.

Bale, who stars as Batman in "The Dark Knight Rises," previously issued a written statement saying: "Words cannot express the horror that I feel. I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."

Bowman-Hayes and her staff cared for patients at both Swedish Medical Center and The Medical Center of Aurora after the shootings, whether it was in the operating room or intensive care unit, or by washing medical instruments. She said the staff appreciated Bale's visit. "He did this out of his heart, and you could really tell. It was so sincere," she said. "It was just, 'thank you.'"

And in a related story: Birth defect saves Auroura Massacre victim
One of the Aurora Massacre Victims that was shot in the head was saved from a small birth defect in her brain. When 22-year-old, Petra Anderson, arrived at the hospital with a shotgun pellet lodged in her brain, the doctors were not optimistic. They believed that even if she survived the injury she would still have brain damage.

But the surgery went great! The bullet had traveled through Petra's brain without hitting any significant areas because of a small birth defect where a tiny channel of fluid runs through her skull.

The defect channeled the bullet through her brain, even turning slightly several times. It missed all vital areas of the brain. She is expected to make a full recovery.
