Kurt Meyer, nicknamed "Panzermeyer", (23 December 1910 – 23 December 1961) served as an officer in the Waffen-SS during the Second World War. He saw action in many major battles, including the Invasion of France, Operation Barbarossa, and the Battle of Normandy.
Meyer was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves and Swords. Upon promotion on 16 June 1944 at the age of 33 years, 5 months and 25 days Meyer became one of the youngest divisional commanders in the German Army during the Second World War.
Meyer's nickname, "Panzermeyer", has nothing to do with armoured warfare. While in training in the Police Academy at Schwerin, Meyer decided to play a prank on a fellow student. His plan was to throw a pail of water on his classmate from the roof of a two story building, but Meyer slipped and fell. He landed on his feet, but suffered over 20 fractures. He was expected to die, but he recovered to full health. After this, Meyer's classmates christened him "Panzer" because he was as tough as a battle tank.
What can I say but DAM is on a roll ;p They started with the "Blackhawk Down" series of 12-inch figures, then teased us with "Tears of the Sun" and "Jarhead". Now it looks like DAM may be getting into DiD / Dragon / Soldier Story territory with WWII figures. And it's a welcome sight too
DAM 1/6 scale German Waffen-SS Panzer Commander Kurt Adolph Wilhelm Meyer 12-inch military action figure will come with 1/6 scale Real like head sculpt, 12-inch Action figure body, Black cotton shirt, M44 Dot Peas Pattern Camouflage Tunic, M44 Dot Peas pattern camouflage trousers, German Waffen EM / NCO Visor Cap, Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes mit Eichenlaub, Waffen-SS Officer Aged Belt, MP28 Magazine Pouch, German M35 map case, German P38 holsters, German army gaiters (one pair), German combat low boots (one pair), Erma EMP 35 Submachine gun, Submachine gun magazine X 3, Walther P38 pistol, German 6 X 30 binoculars, German M24 stick grenade
I thought I had stopped at collecting 12-inch WWII figures (especially Germans) to concentrate on the modern era soldiers and movie-related figures but this one looks too good to resist ;p
This is one of the best 1/6 scale German Waffen EM / NCO Visor Caps I've seen :)
And the details on the 1/6 scale accessories (check out the belt buckle, binoculars and pistol) are equally amazing!
