While these look great, they come at Hot Toys prices as well :( meaning, they are EXPENSIVE @ SGD60 bucks or USD50. Not really bang for your buck. I would rather spend that kind of money an an actual figure ;p

For those who can well afford, I say "Go for it" but as for me, I'll wait for the unlicensed versions ;p someone over in China will catch on and release the same without Hot Toys intervention and at a fraction of the price haha

It's a case of getting it if it's NOT pricey and moving on to other stuff if it's going to be priced by Hot Toys. There are other stuff more worth getting for that kind of asking price.

Doom is a 2005 science fiction horror film, loosely based on the Doom series of video games created by id Software. It was directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak. A team of eight Marines - (Sarge, Reaper, Duke, Destroyer, The Kid, Portman, Goat and Mac) known as the RRTS Hellfighters (Rapid Response Tactical Squad) from Earth are sent via a teleportation device called "the Ark" to Mars where they must eliminate a threat which has attacked and killed residents of the Union Aerospace Corporation (UAC) Olduvai Research Facility.

Karl Urban starred as Staff Sergeant John "Reaper" Grimm: Grimm is the son of UAC scientists who were killed in an accident during the early excavation of a Martian dig site. He abandoned his scientific heritage and joined the military to forget about this personal disaster. He is the twin brother (younger by two minutes) of Dr. Samantha Grimm.

VTS VM-007 1/6th scale Dark Soldier 12-inch Figure aka Karl Urban as Staff Sergeant John "Reaper" Grimm will come with 1/6th scale real-like head sculpt, 12-inch figure body with long-sleeved T-shirt (black), combat suit, tactical vest, universal pouch (small), magazine pouch, universal pouch (large), ammo pouch, tactical belt, elbow pads (one pair), knee pads (one pair), half-finger tactical gloves (one pair), walkie-talkie radio, combat knife with scabbard, drop-leg holster, pistol, sci-fi assault rifle, rifle sling, radio communications headset, combat boots (one pair)

The rifle as seen in DOOM and on this figure are modified Heckler & Koch G36s, basically just a H&K G36 with futuristic looking upgrades / attachments. It might look similar to the guns seen in the ALIENS film but the Pulse Rifles from Aliens were modified Thompson's with a bit of SPAS-12 added on for the grenade launcher.

The one thing wrong with this set is that his sidearm should be a USP, not a Berretta 92FS but hey, I'm not complaining. I generally like sci-fi themed military figures with their souped-up weapons ;p Bring it on

Who's next? After this release, will we see Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Gunnery Sergeant Asher "Sarge" Mahonin: The leader of the squad? One can only hope ;p

Hot Toys teases with 1/6th scale Chitauri, 12-inch Phil Coulson, Iron Man Mark VII and Hulk Figures

Hot Toys has released teaser pictures of their 1/6th scale Chitauri Footsoldier, SHIELD Agent Phil Coulson, Iron Man Mark VII armored suit and Hulk from "The Avengers" movie as well as a preview of their upcoming 1/4th scale The Dark Knight Batman figure

The Chitauri are Loki's Army in The Avengers. They are very loosely based on the extraterrestrial race of the same name from Mark Millar's The Ultimates. The Chitauri are a powerful, technologically advanced race of extraterrestrial cyborg-like creatures, and they're on Thanos' service. When the Mad Titan allies himself with the exiled Asgardian Loki Laufeyson, the Chitauri are granted to him as his personal army to conquer Earth and gain the Tesseract.


Agent Phil Coulson is an espionage agent working for S.H.I.E.L.D.. Coulson was an original creation who is not based on a character in the Marvel Comics universe, though a version of him has subsequently appeared in the mainstream Marvel continuity in 2012. Phil Coulson is played by Clark Gregg in The Avengers movie. I think this is Hot Toys way of making / producing a Man in Black figure ;p

In the recently released 2012 Avengers film, Mark Ruffalo was Dr. Bruce Banner, a genius scientist who, because of exposure to gamma radiation, transforms into a green skinned monster when enraged or excited. We call it HULK! Ruffalo was cast after negotiations between Marvel and Edward Norton broke down. Edward Norton was the third actor to play Bruce Banner after Eric Banna and Bill Bixby. Hulk has been interpreted in so many ways on screen and this latest screen incarnation does bear a certain resemblance to Ruffalo. Looks like 1/6th scale HULK is going to be pretty HUGE, shown standing next to the Chitauri footsoldier.

Hot Toys has already released numerous versions of the Iron Man armored suit, some movie-related and some variants. Just from the movies alone, counting the first two Iron Man films plus the Avengers, there have already been seven Iron Man armor suits but Hot Toys has managed to produce and release more than that and add on variants, re-painted versions as well as War Machine. Looks like they won't be done with Iron Man yet ;p
