Play Imaginative Super Alloy The New 52 1/6 Superman is metallic? Really? Was he ever?

Posted on 19:55 by Unknown
Based on the New 52 series of comic books by Geoff Johns and Jim Lee, this Play Imaginative super alloy 1/6 scale Superman Action Figure features a lofty amount of detail, made of more than 80% die-cast metal material, along with "impressive" articulation (over 25 points) - so says the manufacturer. If you recall, the first super alloy figure was the new 52 Batman and after seeing and handling the figure at the shop, I was unimpressed with the figure's articulation at all, especially given the hefty price tag. Having gotten used to 1/6 scale figures with ultra realistic paint jobs and fabric outfits and movie-accurate costumes without any visible joint lines, these figures seem to be a step in the wrong direction. Plus why would anyone need a metallic Batman or Superman? They aren't metallic in the comics or movies. Making them metallic just so one can charge a higher price is just a marketing ploy to deceive collectors to spend more money.

This upcoming Play Imaginative Super Alloy The New 52 1/6 Superman will be Approximately 12 inches in height with Interchangeable "New 52" Superman Head plus additional Interchangeable "New 52" Superman Head with laser beam eyes - Red LED light in head with laser beam eyes (batteries included), Die-cast metal torso, arms and legs with More than 25 points of articulation including Ball jointed wrists, groin, and ankles. Double jointed body, elbows, and knees. Spring-loaded articulated waist and Assorted hands. Comes with Cape with posable inner wire and additional Cape without wire for flowing cape effect. Remote control for laser beam eyes (batteries included). Crystal Fortress base with lights and fan to simulate flowing cape (batteries included). Single figure base stand. Foldable backdrop display. Micro-fibre cleaning cloth for cleaning off fingerprint marks on alloy parts (they just highlighted the problem with the super alloy figures). Tests performed (Oxidation, paint chipping, paint fading, electronic and battery tests).

This New 52 Superman just looks so much more like a boy to me. There's no manliness expressed in his face. He doesn't look intimidating and authoritative enough. I guess Christopher Reeves did such a great job as Superman that this just pales in comparison. Compare this figure which will cost $359.99 retail (ouch!) with Hot Toys very impressive and stunning MMS152 1/6th scale Superman Collectible Figure from the classic superhero movie "Superman" in 1978 which costs way less (see preview pictures HERE) and you'll see why I am not in favor of this figure at all. Even Hot Toys MMS050 1/6 scale Brandon Routh as Clark Kent / Superman figure is way better compared to this (see pictures HERE)

click on the picture for a bigger and better view :)

The picture above shows how the figure can be posed on the Crystal Fortress base with lights and a fan to simulate flowing cape action (the reason why the second cape is included in the set).

You know the drill ;p

This figure just doesn't do it for me :( and the asking price is ridiculous! It's like the smaller multiple jointed figures have been upsized along with a hefty price tag.

Kitbash 1/6 scale Daniel Craig as MI6 Agent 007 James Bond 12-inch figure as seen in SKYFALL

Posted on 17:12 by Unknown
Having reviewed both ZC World (company) ZCWO (brand) 1/6 scale Articulate Body AB-02 (300 pieces limited edition) 12-inch figure HERE and Asmus Toys 1/6 scale 007 The BOND suit for 12-inch Figure HERE, it's only natural for me to pose Daniel Craig as James Bond as seen in the 2012 SKYFALL movie.

In Skyfall, the film opens in Istanbul, where we see MI6 agents James Bond and Eve Moneypenny chase a mercenary, Patrice, who has stolen a computer hard drive containing details of undercover agents placed in terrorist organisations by NATO states. Bond is not in his usual tuxedo but is seen wearing a silver / grey suit instead. And in the ensuing pursuit, Bond grabs the nearest bike available to chase after Patrice.

So here's 1/6 scale Bond wearing suit and tie getting on a dirt bike to go after Patrice. Scroll down to see more pictures :)

The 1:6 scale bike was borrowed from the British SAS Scud hunters of Operation Desert Storm 1991. It's actually a Hasbro 1998 G.I. Joe Fast Attack Cycle uses as it is ;p

Craig describes his portrayal of Bond whom he has played since 2005 (his first Bond film, Casino Royale, premiered 14 November 2006) as an anti-hero: "The question I keep asking myself while playing the role is, 'Am I the good guy or just a bad guy who works for the good side?' Bond's role, after all, is that of an assassin when you come down to it. I have never played a role in which someone's dark side shouldn't be explored. I don't think it should be confusing by the end of the film, but during the film you should be questioning who he is."

Craig has stated his own favourite previous Bond actor was Sean Connery, but says, "I'd never copy somebody else. I would never do an impression of anybody else or try and improve on what they did. That would be a pointless exercise for me." His own favourite Bond film is From Russia with Love.

On a James Bond-centric episode of The South Bank Show, Connery divulged his thoughts on Craig's casting as Bond, whom he described as "fantastic, marvelous in the part". When told that Craig had taken particular note of his performances, Connery said that he was "flattered" and that Craig really gets the "danger element" to Bond's character.

On 8 September 2012, Bond producers announced Craig had signed on for two future Bond films and not five as previously reported. This would bring his total to five films, which would be two fewer than Roger Moore's record of seven.

Review Asmus Toys 1/6 scale 007 The BOND suit for 12-inch Figure - Daniel Craig Skyfall?

Posted on 16:28 by Unknown
continued from previous post...

Daniel Wroughton Craig (born 2 March 1968) is an English actor, best known for playing British secret agent James Bond since 2006. Craig achieved international fame when chosen as the seventh actor to play the role of James Bond, replacing Pierce Brosnan. Though he was initially greeted with scepticism, his debut in Casino Royale was highly acclaimed and earned him a BAFTA award nomination, with the film becoming the highest-grossing in the series at the time. Quantum of Solace followed two years later. His third Bond film, Skyfall, premiered in 2012 and is now the highest-grossing film in the series.

This is the Asmus Toys 1/6 scale 007 The BOND suit for 12-inch Figure which comes with silver jacket, silver pants, fashion styled shirt, patterned tie, silver watch, leather belt and black shoes. This particular suit seems most appropriate for the ZCWO 1/6 scale Articulate Body AB02 which comes with the Daniel Craig looking head sculpt (reviewed in my toy blog post HERE).

The packaging has all the above-mentioned items kept sealed in a plastic bag. Here's how the 1/6 scale clothes look on the ZCWO AB-02 12-inch figure. I haven't put on the jacket yet as I wanted to show how he looks with just the shirt and pants on.

Close-up pictures taken of the Asmus Toys 1/6 scale 007 The BOND suit fashion styled shirt and patterned tie.

I was pleasantly pleased that this wasn't just a plain white shirt but this 1/6 scale shirt actually has patterns on it. I like the cut and fitting too.

This is the 1/6 scale silver watch that is included. The less said, the better.

And here's how debonair 1/6 scale Daniel Craig looks with the Asmus Toys 007 The BOND suit for 12-inch Figure. NOTE: The pistol is NOT included with the set but something I have and added for the complete look.

James Bond is just NOT complete without his Walter PPK

Scroll down to see more pictures

We always see James Bond in a tuxedo so it's nice and refreshing to see him wearing something else for a change ;p

Review ZCWO 1/6 scale Articulate Body AB02 (Limited Edition) 12-inch Figure - James Bond?

Posted on 17:24 by Unknown
James Bond, code name 007, is a fictional character created in 1953 by writer Ian Fleming, who featured him in twelve novels and two short-story collections. The fictional British Secret Service agent has also been adapted for television, radio, comic strip, and video game formats in addition to having been used in the longest continually running and the second-highest grossing film franchise to date, which started in 1962 with Dr. No, starring Sean Connery as Bond. As of 2013, there have been twenty-three films in the Eon Productions series. The most recent Bond film, Skyfall (2012), stars Daniel Craig in his third portrayal of Bond; he is the sixth actor to play Bond in the Eon series. There have also been two independent productions of Bond films: Casino Royale (a 1967 spoof) and Never Say Never Again (a 1983 remake of an earlier Eon-produced film, Thunderball).

This is ZC World (company) ZCWO (brand) 1/6 scale Articulate Body AB-02 (300 pieces limited edition) 12-inch figure which comes with a 1/6 scale head sculpt, 12-inch articulate body, 3 pairs of hands, alternate neck joint, ankle extension joint and extendable figure display stand. The 1/6 scale head sculpt does remind one of a certain super spy / secret agent from the British Secret Intelligence Service, commonly known as MI6. Scroll down to see more :)

Box is pretty straightforward. Rectangular with a squarish base (to fit the figure display base stand) with figure and parts well stored in a plastic case.

And this is how the ZC World ZCWO 1/6 scale Articulate Body AB-02 (300 pieces limited edition) 12-inch figure looks like out of its plastic prison. NOTE: the gun / pistol is NOT included. I just felt that he'll look naked without his gun LOL

And here's a classic James Bond pose we are all too familiar with, albeit usually with his clothes on ;p

Scroll down to see more of this recently released ZC World ZCWO 1/6 scale Articulate Body AB-02 (300 pieces limited edition) 12-inch figure with a very "Daniel Craig" looking head sculpt.

Usually a 12-inch figure should look this skinny without clothes because the 1/6 scale fabric outfit will add bulk to the figure and then the 1/6 scale figure will look normal. Unless you are The ROCK! Then you just wear a T-shirt because nothing else will fit you haha

The ZCWO 1/6 scale Articulate Body AB02 figure comes with two pistol gripping hands (left and right), two relaxed palm hands and two rather straight saluting / karate-chop type hands. Would have preferred grasping hands and fists.

The figure has got good tight joints and can pretty much stand on its own without the aid of the figure stand but for the sake of the review, I thought I'll just show pictures of the figure with the stand.

Here are some close-ups of the ZCWO 1/6 scale Articulate Body AB02 as well as the "Daniel Craig" looking head sculpt. Daniel Craig is not exactly the most handsome actor to play James Bond but he has brought a certainly tenacity and bull-doggedness to the character that is rather refreshing for a change.

Daniel Craig was given the role of Bond for Casino Royale in 2006, which rebooted the franchise. By 2012, James Bond had become such a symbol of the United Kingdom that the character, played by Craig, appeared in the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics as Queen Elizabeth II's escort.

NEXT: Time to dress this ZCWO 1/6 scale Articulate Body AB02 (Limited Edition) 12-inch Figure up with Asmus Toys 1/6 scale 007 The BOND suit for 12-inch Figure ;p Review HERE
