Review 1: Hot Toys Toy Fairs Exclusive "The Dark Knight" 1/6 Lt. Jim Gordon 12" Figure

This is the recently released 1/6th scale Lt. Jim Gordon 12-inch Limited Edition Collectible Figure (S.W.A.T. Suit Version) from The Dark Knight movie by Hot Toys that was one of three 2012 Toy Fairs Exclusive item. I managed to get mine from the 2012 Singapore Toy Game & Comic Convention (STGCC 2012 from September 1 & 2).

In the 2008 superhero film "The Dark Knight" directed, produced, and co-written by Christopher Nolan, Gary Oldman stars as James Gordon, a lieutenant in the Gotham City Police Department and one of the city's few honest police officers. He forms a tenuous, unofficial alliance with Batman and Dent. When the Joker assassinates Police Commissioner Loeb, Mayor Garcia gives Gordon the position.

I've wanted a 1/6th scale James "Jim" Gordon figure since "Batman Begins" (the first of the Batman trilogy films by Christopher Nolan) and was quite pleased that Hot Toys finally decided to produce and release a 1:6 scale version of Gotham City Police Commissioner Gordon. This comes after countless Hot Toys Batman and Joker 12-inch figures, with the Scarecrow and Two Face / Harvey Dent figures also being released as well. The fact that this is a S.W.A.T. Suit Version could mean that Hot Toys might release a regular version i.e. Jim Gordon in plain clothes.

Hot Toys Toy Fairs Exclusive "The Dark Knight" 1/6th scale Lt. Jim Gordon (S.W.A.T. Suit Version) 12" Collectible Figure comes in a very straightforward looking box packaging. The figure and its contents lie in one main tray that is pulled out from the right side, revealing the figure through a window-like display cover / lid which you remove to access the figure below it.

ALWAYS read the instructions before proceeding to examine / play with / pose the figure / toy, especially when the figure is NOT cheap to begin with. Most important thing to note about about this Hot Toys Toy Fairs Exclusive "The Dark Knight" 1/6 scale Lt. Jim Gordon (S.W.A.T. Suit Version) 12" Collectible Figure is that the S.W.A.T. black flak vest is to be removed via the velcro on both sides. It is NOT recommended to remove the vest via the zipper on the front of the vest!

Here's a picture of Hot Toys Exclusive Lt Jim Gordon 1/6 figure right out of the box, wearing his GCPD (Gotham City Police Department) long sleeve vest under his GCPD S.W.A.T. uniform with belt, drop-down pistol holster, gas mask bag, knee pads and black combat boots.

Lt. Jim Gordon has the S.W.A.T. flak vest over his uniform (S.W.A.T. suit). Just need to add certain items to make him complete ;p

Close-up picture of the Hot Toys Toy Fairs Exclusive "The Dark Knight" 12-inch Gary Oldman as Lt. Jim Gordon 1/6th scale head sculpt without his glasses on. Hot Toys is certainly leading the way with their phenomenally realistic head sculpts with the insanely real-like looking skin tones. It just blows the mind!

I only started watching out for Gary Oldman when he played the villain Norman Stansfield in "Léon: The Professional (1994)" and Jean-Baptiste Emmanuel Zorg in "The Fifth Element (1997)". Gary Oldman followed up with his bad-guy roles as Egor Korshunov in "Air Force One (1997)" and Dr. Zachary Smith in "Lost in Space (1998)".

I was excited when I found out that Gary Oldman was playing Lt. James "Jim" Gordon of the Gotham City Police Department (GCPD). What an about turn from his earlier role as a corrupt Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent Norman Stansfield, the primary antagonist of Luc Besson's 1994 film "Léon: The Professional". Oldman's performance has been recognized as influential and the character described as one of cinema's greatest villains.

Accessories included with the Hot Toys Toy Fairs Exclusive "The Dark Knight" 1/6th scale Lt. Jim Gordon (S.W.A.T. Lt. Jim Gordon wears the gas mask bag on his left thigh. There is no gas mask inside the bag :( It is just padded to give the illusion that it is full

What follows are close-up pictures of the Hot Toys Toy Fairs Exclusive "The Dark Knight" 12-inch Gary Oldman as Lt. Jim Gordon 1/6th scale head sculpt with his shooting glasses on.

Shooting Glasses provide the necessary eye protection and are able to enhance a shooter's view of their target or sights. This is accomplished by increasing contrast or reducing blue light levels, which cause haze.

Even with the shooting glasses on, there's no mistaking the resemblance of the Hot Toys Exclusive Lt. Jim Gordon 1:6 scale head sculpt to that of Gary Oldman, the actor who plays him in Christopher Nolan's BATMAN films. The likeness is simply amazing!

Great job once again by Hot Toys :) and the 1:6 scale shooting glasses are very well produced too
