DID has made the Russian President Vladimir Putin into a 1/6th scale 12-inch action figure

Posted on 20:36 by Unknown
Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin (born 7 October 1952) is a Russian politician who has been the President of Russia since 7 May 2012. Putin previously served as President from 2000 to 2008 and as Prime Minister of Russia from 1999 to 2000, and again from 2008 to 2012. Putin also served as chairman of United Russia and Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Union of Russia and Belarus from 2008 to 2012.

Putin began his career in the KGB but entered politics in his native Saint Petersburg in 1990. He moved to Moscow in 1996 and joined president Boris Yeltsin's administration where he rose quickly, becoming acting President on 31 December 1999 when Yeltsin resigned unexpectedly. Putin won the 2000 presidential election and was re-elected in 2004.

This upcoming 12-inch figure to be released by DID is undoubtedly 1/6th scale Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, President of Russia (ITEM NO: R80085) which will be made available in September 2012. This President Putin action figure will be having the NEW All-Era Body! Accessories include a Wooden Podium with Microphones and two Flags with stands will also be included! Scroll down to see more pictures ;p

Putin often supports an outdoor, sporting, tough guy image in the media, demonstrating his physical capabilities and taking part in unusual or dangerous acts, such as extreme sports and interaction with wild animals.

For example, in 2007, the tabloid Komsomolskaya Pravda published a huge photograph of a bare-chested Putin vacationing in the Siberian mountains under the headline: "Be Like Putin." Such photo ops are part of a public relations approach that, according to Wired, "deliberately cultivates the macho, take-charge superhero image".

Other notable examples of Putin's macho adventures include: Flying military jets - Putin flew a Sukhoi Su-27 fighter over Chechnya in 2000 and a Tu-160 supersonic heavy bomber on 16 August 2005 at MAKS Airshow. Martial arts - Putin demonstrated his martial art skills on a tatami at the Kodokan Institute in Tokyo on 5 September 2000 and did more such demonstrations since. Descending in a deepwater submersible - On 1 August 2009 Putin descended 1395 m to the bottom of Lake Baikal, the world's deepest lake, on a MIR submersible accompanied by deepwater explorer Anatoly Sagalevich (who had been among the team which had reached the bottom at the North Pole in the Arktika 2007 expedition). From the bottom of Baikal Putin spoke to journalists via hydrophone.

More of his exploits can be found on wikipedia including tranquilizing tigers (2008), tranquilizing polar bears (2010), firefighting from the air (2010), shooting darts at whales wile balancing on a rubber boat in the sea (2010), test driving a Formula 1 race car (2010) and scuba diving at the archaeological site of the ancient Greek colony of Phanagoria in the Taman Bay on 11 August 2011. Truly an ACTION MAN ;p

"Howdy Pardner" - Crazy Owners COF-028 1/6th scale James Dean Cowboy 12-inch Figure Set

Posted on 16:28 by Unknown
"Giant" is a 1956 American drama film, directed by George Stevens and was the last of James Dean's three films as a leading actor, and earned him his second and last Academy Award nomination – he was killed in a car accident before the film was released. The movie portrays how the oil industry transformed the Texas ranchers into the super rich of their generation.

From Crazy Owners comes this 1/6th scale "James Dean" Cowboy 12-inch Figure Set comprising a "Precision" Head Sculpt, 12-inch Figure Body, Cowboy Hat, Flannel Shirt, Cowboy Vest, Denim Vintage Jeans, Cowboy Chaps, Belt with Holster, Revolver, Bullets x 5, Cowboy boots and Spurs

It isn't very often a 1/6th scale company offers 12-inch cowboy figures. It's been mostly military and movie-related so this is a nice addition to the ever growing expansion of 1/6 figures. The last cowboy figure I got was BBK's 1/6th scale Josh Brolin as DC Comics Jonah Hex from the 2010 movie of the same name (pictures posted HERE). And if you click on the "Cowboys and Indians" label at the bottom of this toy blog post, you can view the other entries of mostly 1/6th scale Cowboy and Indian 12-inch Figures ;p

What's a cowboy without his cowboy hat? The cowboy hat is a high-crowned, wide-brimmed hat best known as the defining piece of attire for the North American cowboy. It is an item of apparel that can be worn in any corner of the world, and receive immediate recognition as part of North American cowboy culture.

Close-up of the Crazy Owners 1/6th scale James Dean head sculpt

Flannel shirt, very much a part and parcel of a cowboy's wardrobe / attire

Cowboy vest - that's necessary too. A cowboy vest can be a casual piece, or it can be used to dress up an outfit for a night out on the town. When most of us think of Western wear, we think of rugged clothing in warm or rustic shades of brown, orange and black or green and turquoise for Southwestern attire. Leather, heavy cotton and even twill are all popular fabrics for Western clothing.

Bootcut Jeans / Flares Vintage Denim Jeans - a cowboy would be naked without them. Really, imagine a cowboy without his jeans on ;p

NOT holster but gun belt since it has the loops for holding the bullets

The 45 caliber Smith & Wesson Schofield revolver was manufactured from 1875-1878 with just under 9,000 of these big six guns being manufactured. As a "top-break" revolver, the 1875 Schofield could be loaded much faster than other sidearms of the day. With the barrel latch released, the barrel could be pulled down and the spent cartridge would be ejected.

The .45 Schofield or .45 Smith & Wesson is a revolver cartridge developed by Smith & Wesson for their S&W Model 3 American top-break revolver. It is similar to the .45 Colt round though shorter and with a slightly larger rim, and will generally work in revolvers chambered for that cartridge.

Chaps are sturdy coverings for the legs consisting of leggings and a belt. They are buckled on over trousers with the chaps' integrated belt, but unlike trousers they have no seat and are not joined at the crotch.

They are designed to provide protection for the legs and are usually made of leather or a leather-like material. They are most commonly associated with the cowboy culture of the American west as a protective garment to be used when riding a horse through brushy terrain.

Cowboy boots refer to a specific style of riding boot, historically worn by cowboys. They have a Cuban heel, rounded to pointed toe, high shaft, and, traditionally, no lacing. Cowboy boots are normally made from cowhide leather but are also sometimes made from "exotic" skins such as alligator, snake, ostrich, lizard, eel, elephant, sting ray, elk, buffalo, and the like.

A spur is a metal tool designed to be worn in pairs on the heels of riding boots for the purpose of directing a horse to move forward or laterally while riding.

Pop Toys 1/6th scale TAD Fighting Clothing outfit set in black, green & tan / sand for 12-inch Figure

Posted on 16:53 by Unknown
Pop Toys seems to be on a roll. Since they popped up recently with preview pictures of their 1/6th scale Water Monster Jumpsuit for 12-inch action figures (posted HERE), they have once again published pictures of their next release: 1/6th scale TAD Fighting Clothing outfits for 12-inch figures. TAD stands for Triple Aught Design and they offer 1:1 scale outdoor, tactical and adventure clothing and equipment for hiking and climbing. Military personnel swear by them and lots of SOF (Special Operations Force) personnel have been seen wearing their stuff. That's as good an advertisement as any.

If 1:1 military personnel wear TAD clothes and gear, then you can be sure 1:6 manufacturers / companies will produce and release 12-inch figures clad in TAD apparel / outfit and equipment.

So it's no surprise that 1/6th scale company Pop Toys will be releasing three different versions of TAD apparel for 12-inch figures. Model: POP1201-C TAD Fighting Clothing Set C consists of Sand TAD Tactical Stealth Hoodie, Sand TAD Mountaineering Combat Pants, Black Tight-fitting Long-sleeved T-shirt, Black Belt, Merrell Mountaineering Boots (with 2 feet joints which can be connected to Hot Toys or Soldier Story body) and Sand Cap or Tuque.

A tuque (Canadian English: /tuːk/, also spelled toque but still pronounced tuque), knit cap (American English), or beanie (UK, Australian, and New Zealand English), also variously known as a knit hat, toboggan, burglar beanie or stocking cap among other names – is a knitted cap, originally of wool though now often of synthetic fibers, that is designed to provide warmth in winter. Commonly referred to as a Watch Cap by sailors and in the US Military.

Why are the faces blurred out? That's because Pop Toys is only selling the outfits so the 12-inch figure body is NOT included and neither is the 1/6th scale head sculpt. Only clothes / apparel sold, people.

Model: POP1201-B TAD Fighting Clothing Set B consists of 1/6th scale Army Green TAD Tactical Stealth Hoodie, Army Green TAD Mountaineering Combat Pants, Sand Tight-fitting Long-sleeved T-shirt, Black Belt, Merrell Mountaineering Boots (with 2 feet joints which can be connected to Hot Toys or Soldier Story body), Black Cap

Model: POP1201-A TAD Fighting Clothing Set A consists of 1/6th scale Black TAD Tactical Stealth Hoodie, Black TAD Mountaineering Combat Pants, Army Green Tight-fitting Long-sleeved T-shirt, Black Belt, Merrell Mountaineering Boots (with 2 feet joints which can be connected to Hot Toys or Soldier Story body), Black Cap

What can I say? 1:6th scale figures wear better clothes / apparel than me haha

Counting the cost of being Iron Man

Posted on 22:49 by Unknown
You think it costs a lot to be Batman (see previous post)? Wait till you see how much being Iron Man cost? After compiling the costs of being Batman, MoneySupermarket.com has also put together the cost of being Iron Man. It's a case of the rich (Bruce Wayne) versus the rich (Tony Stark) because let's face it, poor people cannot afford to be superheroes. How accurate this is nobody really knows, but MoneySupermarket.com based their calculations on the following references: thechive.com, Io9.com, empireonline.com, popsci.com, en.wikipedia.org, starpulse.com, toydirt.com, devientart.com, jalopnik.com, imdb.com and marvel.com

Based on their calculations and estimates, MoneySupermarket.com says Tony Stark's Iron Man Mark III armor suit costs a whopping $110,302,000 which is way more than what Bruce Wayne paid for his suit but then again, Batman can't fly in his suit. That's why DC has been producing TV episodes of the animated Batman and Justice League whereas Marvel has been churning out all the movies on Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Spiderman, Hulk and the Avengers. Marvel has the moolah!

Besides the armor suit, there's the cost of technology as well and Tony Stark knows that only too well.

Tony also has to rely on his super computer to do most of his stuff and a comfortable house to do all his stuff in. Money may not be able to buy you happiness but it gets you pretty close haha

And now, here's a look at all the money for the various Iron Man armor suits that Tony has spent on. Mark 1 costs him next to nothing since he put that together in a cave while under being held captive but since returning to the world from captivity, he has been producing the armor suits like nobody's business. Thing is, MoneySupermarket.com got it wrong when it came to War Machine. They may know their numbers but they certainly don't know their Iron Man facts / story very well. For those of us who watched the Iron man 2 movie, Jim Rhodes took the Mark II from under Tony Stark's nose and the United States government funded the reverse engineering to turn the Mark II into War Machine as part of the United States Air Force arsenal. So we should take the price tag of $115,000,000 from the final figure of $1,464,000,000 for the armor suits.

Tony Stark loves his cars too and judging from the movies released so far, he certainly has a lot of them. Well, you know what they say: fast cars and fast women go hand-in-hand ;p

So there you have it: Cost of being Iron Man - Grand Total: $1,612,717,000! Phew

So you want to be Batman? Let's see if you got what it takes to be a crimefighter, money wise

Posted on 16:30 by Unknown
Ever wondered how much it cost to be BATMAN? Well, wonder no more. MoneySupermarket.com bothered to do a calculation based on research carried out by themselves and has compiled this most interesting Batman Info-graphic that puts a price to everything Batman (Bruce Wayne) owns. So now we can rest easy knowing that we are not Batman because we just cannot afford it haha. Let's just let Bruce Wayne continue to do what he's been doing with the resources he has at his disposal.

I guess anger and wanting to avenge the death of one's parents just aren't enough reasons to go out and fight crime. You need moolah and lots of it too ;p Scroll down to see how much things would really cost if Bruce Wayne as Batman have to dig deep into his pocket / bank account to fund his war on crime. Upholding justice don't come cheap... it takes a lot of money for one man in a mask and costume to fight injustice!

Based on estimates, Batman's vehicles cost a whopping $80,000,000 and I don't think that includes spare parts. Some countries don't even have that kind of money!

And then there's the cost of keeping up appearances, such as maintaining a false front as one of Gotham's richest so as not to arouse suspicions, including paying Alfred to run things in Wayne Manor and also the Bat Cave.

As Batman, you have to have all the high tech gadgets that nobody else has or can afford because it makes you look super cool and gets you out of tight situations. Batman's huge arsenal of gadgets don't come cheap either.

Last but certainly not least, there's the training costs Bruce Wayne had to go through first before he can consider himself ready for the role of Batman. He has to be the best at everything in order to outwit, outfox and outfight the bad guys. That's something you are not born with and money certainly will come in handy for the various types of training Batman needs to undergo first before he can put on the costume and cowl.

So what's the total cost of being Batman? $682,451,350 and you can take that to the bank! Source: MoneySupermarket.com

Related post: The Dark Knight Manual: Tools, Weapons, Vehicles and Documents from the Batcave - clearly you can see where all that money went and IMHO definitely a must-have resource for any Batman fan :)
