Pop Toys 1/6 scale Black Kunoichi Female Character Set for 12-inch female action figure

In the opening scene of the fourth Resident Evil movie, "Resident Evil: Afterlife" which opens a few weeks after the events of "Resident Evil: Extinction", the Alice clones (Milla Jovovich) attempt to kill Umbrella CEO Albert Wesker (Shawn Roberts) at his base in Japan. With hair swept back and tied in a ponytail while wearing skin tight all black suits and armed with double sub-machine guns plus double katana swords, the Alice clones seem to have the upper hand.

It seems Resident Evil Alice (Milla Jovovich) makes for a great 1/6 scale female action figure because quite a number of companies have produced and released 12-inch Resident Evil Alice figures and it looks like they are not letting up.

These pre-release shots of Pop Toys 1/6 scale Black Kunoichi set just happen to be standing in front of a particular Raccoon City poster with the Umbrella corporation logo with Resident Evil serving as a backdrop ;p It's all happenstance; even the Pop Toys 1/6 scale female head sculpt just so happens to resemble a particular actress who has played the leading character in all the RE movies. You are allowed to make your own conclusions.

In the meantime, enjoy the pictures of Pop Toys 1/6 scale Black Kunoichi Female Character Set for 12-inch female action figure. Not a bad offering at all if the price is right ;p

Found out from wikipedia that "Kunoichi" (くノ一) is the term for a female ninja or practitioner of ninjutsu (ninpo). The term is thought to derive from the names of characters that resemble the three strokes in the kanji character for woman (女 onna); said in the order they are written: ku (く) - no (ノ) - ichi (一). I learn something new everyday :)

H is also for Hades and Hermes 12-inch figures by Foxbox Studio "God Complex" line of figures

Gotta put them together – Foxbox Studio's pair of God Complex Hades and Hermes 12-inch figures. These are really one-of-a-kind sixth scale figures because they are not based on any movie franchise, nor military themed but they are drawn and inspired by the gods from Greek mythology.

In Greek mythology, Hades is the King of the Underworld and god of the dead and the hidden wealth of the Earth. His consort is Persephone and his attributes are the key of Hades, the Helm of Darkness, and the three-headed dog, Cerberus. Hermes is the god of travel, messengers, trade, thievery, cunning wiles, language, writing, diplomacy, athletics, and animal husbandry. He is the messenger of the gods, a psychopomp who leads the souls of the dead into Hades' realm, and the son of Zeus and Maia.

I've already reviewed both Foxbox Studio's "God Complex: Hermes" and "God Complex: Hades" separately but haven't put them together for pictures yet, until now :) Scroll down to see more pictures of this great pairing by Foxbox Studio.

A little backstory: Acropolis, Inc, the first corporation to distribute energy to the people of Hellenic Republic, was founded by primary Ruler, Zeus. Zeus has many sons and among them is Hermes. Although he is chosen to be among the big twelve in the company, he has never been Zeus' favorite. He is always the one doing most of the work even if the glory always falls on his brothers. Hermes is quick witted and he does not need physical prowess to get what he wants. Despite being born a Ruler, Hermes is a human sympathizer and he will be a central character in aiding the humans to rise against the Rulers.

Hades is the figurehead of the largest criminal organization in Hellenic Republic, Tartarus. While he is not exactly malevolent, Hades along with trusted gun, Cerberus II, strike mortal fear into people's hearts because Hades is not bound by any laws. Neither the Rulers' nor humans' rules meant anything to him. He judges based on his own creed and justice.

Barack Obama wins election for second term as United States President - Congratulations to him

President Barack Obama handily defeated Governor Mitt Romney and won himself a second term Tuesday after a bitter and historically expensive race that was primarily fought in just a handful of battleground states. Networks project that Obama beat Romney after nabbing the crucial state of Ohio.

So its's only fitting that I re-post this particular TOYHAVEN toy blog entry again since the 12-inch figure in question is that of a 1/6 scale President Barack Obama figure :)

During the 2008 US presidential campaign following the New Hampshire Democratic Primary, then-Senator (now President) Barack Obama, used the similar English translation of the slogan of United Farm Workers (UFW) – "Sí, se puede" (Spanish for "Yes, it can be done") in his speech. "Yes we can" became a slogan popularized by Obama and very much associated with him.

A very buff and fit 1:6 scale Obama figure produced and released by Hot Toys most recently. This is their new 1/6th scale TrueType Body – TTM-15 African American Male (Advanced Version).

Barack Hussein Obama II is the 44th (now 45th) and current President of the United States. He is the first African American to hold the office.

Why Hot Toys chose to release the body with this head sculpt is beyond me as I don't think this HS is very versatile for other action or military figures. Can you imagine a Navy SEAL Obama, FCS Obama, WWII Obama or Gladiator Obama? Perhaps this is Hot Toys way of dishing DID as DID (Dragon In Dreams) did release a 12-inch Obama figure in 2009 but the head sculpt just wasn't good enough (in our colloquial terms "cannot make it").

Hot Toys is certainly showing everybody, 1:6 manufacturers and collectors alike, that they can make any head sculpt look GOOD!!

Phicen Limited must have a lot of confidence in their newest product, the Rayne sixth scale female action figure because less than a week of posting pictures of Rayne wearing a sexy red and black outfit showing quite a bit of her mid-section (see my earlier post HERE), Phicen Limited is now taking orders for Rayne version 2.0 1/6 scale deluxe collector figure.

This time Rayne will come dressed in all-black evening dress but she is still armed with her two large killer swords (Ghost knives). How does she conceal her weapons baffles me ;p in most instances, the femme fatale hides a small handgun in a holster carried on her thigh or tucked into the garter belt but Rayne's weapons are HUGE so there's no way for her to conceal or hide her weapons so I guess she really isn't dressed for a night on the town.

Henri Ducard is a fictional character in the Batman comic book universe. The character was later amalgamated with Ra's al Ghul as the main villain in the 2005 film "Batman Begins", a reboot of the Batman franchise Hamm had helped originate.

In the comics, Bruce Wayne approaches Ducard for training in Paris, during his early days traveling the world. Ducard, a knowledgeable detective with excellent man-hunting skills, imparts much of his knowledge to the young, keen Bruce.

Later in the series, it is revealed that Ducard is largely amoral, working for criminals as often as he does the law. He deduces Batman's secret identity, but keeps it to himself, thinking, as he leaves, that Batman continues to exist because true criminals realize he distracts the people from the greater crimes by his public battle against lesser crimes.

In the film, Liam Neeson is Ra's al Ghul and under the pseudonym Henri Ducard, Ducard trains Bruce in ninjutsu, a form of martial arts.

Writer David Goyer said he felt Ducard's was the most complex of all the Batman villains, comparing him to Osama bin Laden; "He's not crazy in the way that all the other Batman villains are. He's not bent on revenge; he's actually trying to heal the world. He's just doing it by very draconian means."

Liam Neeson is commonly cast as a mentor, so the revelation that his character was the main villain was intended to shock viewers.

Hot Toys MMS "Appleseed Ex Machina" 1/6 scale Briareos 14-inch pose-able action figure

Besides the excellent female form that is Hot Toys MMS (Movie Masterpiece Series) "Appleseed Ex Machina" 1/6 scale Deunan Knute fully pose-able figure, Hot Toys also released her cyborg lover / partner / companion Briareos Hecatonchires in 1/6 scale as well and he is BIG in terms of size, being of the right scale.

I felt in love with Masamune Shirow art in the Appleseed manga series which follows the adventures of ESWAT members Deunan Knute and Briareos Hecatonchires in Olympus. Like much of Masamune's work, Appleseed merges elements of the cyberpunk and mecha genres with a heavy dosage of politics, philosophy, and sociology. The series spans four volumes, released between 1985 and 1989. From 1988 to 1992, Appleseed was published in English by Eclipse Comics, packaged by Studio Proteus which was how I could understand all that was being said in the comic panels ;p

In 1988, the manga was adapted into an OVA with the same name. The OVA was directed by Kazuyoshi Katayama. It was produced by Bandai Visual and licensed by Manga Entertainment. A CGI feature film was released in 2004 titled "Appleseed" and was directed by Shinji Aramaki. The sequel to this film, "Appleseed Ex Machina", was released on October 20, 2007 in Japan with Aramaki again directing and John Woo producing.

Briareos is a trained ESWAT officer, his point man is Deunan. They met in her father's SWAT unit before World War III broke out. Briareos and Deunan are lovers and have been involved since before the war.

Since moving to Olympus with Deunan, they have joined the ESWAT unit (Extra Special Weapons And Tactics). He is named after Briareus the Vigorous, one of the Hecatonchires (hundred-armed giants) of Greek mythology.

Originally an African man from the Mediterranean, Briareos was used as a terrorist by the KGB while still a child. He sought political asylum in the former USA after killing the unit's commander of operations - for which he was put on the international "most wanted" list as an assassin.

After meeting an agent from Special Security Forces, he began operating as a partner with the man's daughter, Deunan Knute. Caught in an explosion, the 31 year old survived only by undergoing a full cyborg body replacement - and has been making modifications ever since.

Briareos is a prime example of the technology of cybernetic implants in Appleseed. Although his body is almost completely artificial, he suffers little loss in humanity. His outer skin is elastic, capable of feeling sensation, and the temperature can be adjusted to the cyborg's preferences.

He has eight eyes mounted on his head, four in his face (The large sensor in the middle is actually his nose) two at the bases of his "rabbit ear" sensors, and two at the tips, which allow him to safely look around corners.

His human brain is augmented by an auxiliary "brain" that acts as an information processor, and is capable of handling information in a conceptual format rather than hard numerical data.

His cybernetics controller, the Hecatonchires system, is named after the same 100 handed giants from Greek mythology. It is capable of controlling dozens of limbs or other cyborg bodies independently from one another, with no additional strain on the user.

In the manga, it is pointed out that a cyborg equipped with the Hecatonchires system is able to fully control an entire aircraft carrier on his own. This ability to process multiple limbs at once is seen in the film when he is seen using one rifle in his Landmate's arms, and another in the control arms.

Hot Toys really did an excellent job with this figure and the craftsmanship plus details on this Briareos Hecatonchires sixth scale figure is just astounding :)

Briareos comes with two PROMETEUS M-08 CYBORG Pistols.
