Here's Hot Toys The Avengers: 1/6 Captain America 12-inch Limited Edition Collectible Figure complete with his shield and a lot more close-up shots :) Can you tell how much I'm loving this figure?
Having shown pictures of the box packaging and its contents in the previous post, now's the time to pose Hot Toys Captain America with his shield. After all, the Captain is not complete without his shield since he and his shield are one.
Hot Toys The Avengers Captain America comes in his superhero costume / outfit which is described as blue, grayish-white and red garment with embossed pattern as well as star on chest, one pair of red gloves / gauntlets, One (1) pair of blue pants, One (1) blue belt with pouches, One (1) pair of red boots. There's also the One (1) metal-like electroplated shield, One (1) metal-like battle damaged electroplated shield, One (1) alien weapon and the 12-inch figure display stand with Captain America nameplate and the movie logo. Since the 1940s, the comic book character Captain America has been presented in a variety of other media, including serial films, feature films, animations, video games, and even as a stage play. [source: wiki]
Captain America was the first Marvel Comics character adapted and released on the big screen in the 1944 movie serial Captain America, which starred Dick Purcell. The serial portrays the hero as a district attorney named Grant Gardner and removes many important elements of the character, such as his trademark shield and his sidekick Bucky Barnes.
The 1990 film Captain America, starring Matt Salinger, was shot in Yugoslavia. It depicted the creation of Captain America from weak soldier Steve Rogers, his fight in World War II and subsequent apparent death, his being found decades later frozen in ice, and his realization and comprehension that our enemies from the war are now our allies, as well as the hero's battle against the Red Skull, who in the film is an Italian fascist rather than a German Nazi.
This film was never officially released in the United States in theaters, but it was released on VHS by 1992. Captain America appeared in the animated films Ultimate Avengers and Ultimate Avengers 2, both released direct to video in 2006 and featuring an Ultimate Marvel version of Captain America. In this version, his identity is known to everyone and Nick Fury and Betty Ross found him in the ice.
Finally in 2011, Marvel Studios released "Captain America: The First Avenger", with Chris Evans as Steve Rogers / Captain America, Hugo Weaving as Johann Schmidt / the Red Skull, and Sebastian Stan as Bucky. Predominantly set in the 1940s, the film shows the origin of the eponymous superhero, his service to the United States Armed Forces during World War II, and the events which left him frozen in the Arctic for 70 years, before being rescued by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents in the present day.
Chris Evans reprises the role of Steve Rogers / Captain America in the 2012 film "The Avengers", directed by Joss Whedon. The film features Captain America sporting this new modernized costume, more in tone and design to his comic-book counterpart.
The sequel to "Captain America: The First Avenger" was announced with an official release date of April 4, 2014, to be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Chris Evans will reprise his role as the titular character and the film will be directed by the Russo brothers. In July 2012, it was announced that the official title for the sequel will be Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Love the look of the new costume and Hot Toys has managed to reproduce the costume in 1/6 scale very faithfully and stayed true to the movie version. Very nice looking costume indeed!
ENJOY the rest of the pictures I've taken of this Hot Toys The Avengers: 1/6 scale Captain America 12-inch Collectible Figure. This is why smaller scale figures cannot compare with 1/6 scale 12-inch sized figures because at 1/6 scale, the details can be captured and reproduced to almost exact scale as the 1:1 scale actual version
There's the new 1/4 scale that Hot Toys and Enterbay have embarked on in a bid to make even more money and while the quarter scale figures have even more realism, the sheer size and price point has put me off completely and I'm just happy to stick with 1/6 scale figures. For me, there's a turning point and 1/4 scale is just too BIG and overwhelming, and I cannot appreciate it.
I opted to use this shiny shield rather than the battle-damaged version as Cap looks too spanky new to be wielding the other shield that's also included.
For nearly all of the character's publication history, Captain America has been the alter ego of Steve Rogers, a frail young man who was enhanced to the peak of human perfection by an experimental serum in order to aid the United States' war effort. Captain America wears a costume that bears an American flag motif (red, white and blue), and is armed with an indestructible shield that can be thrown as a weapon.
The circular shield most associated with Captain America made its debut in Captain America Comics #2 (April 1941). A concavo-convex metal disc approximately 2.5 feet (0.76 m) in diameter, it is virtually indestructible and has remained his most constant shield over the decades.
Again through retroactive continuity, it is established that the shield was presented to Rogers by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The shield is created by a fictional American metallurgist named Myron MacLain, who had been commissioned by the US government to create an indestructible armor material to aid the war effort. MacLain experiments with the vibration-absorbing metal vibranium.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Tony's father Howard Stark created the shield. It is made from what is said to be all the vibranium there is on Earth, and is nigh-indestructible and vibration-absorbent.
In the 2012 film "The Avengers", Captain America wields the same shield as the one seen in "Captain America: The First Avenger". The shield is able to withstand a blow from Thor's hammer Mjolnir, causing a shockwave that knocks Thor, Captain America and Iron Man back with great force and uprooting several trees near by.
