The New York City Police Department (NYPD), established in 1845, is the largest municipal police force in the United States, with primary responsibilities in law enforcement and investigation within the five boroughs of New York City. The NYPD is one of the oldest police departments established in the United States; tracing its roots back to the first Dutch eight man night watch in 1625, when New York City was New Amsterdam. It has its headquarters at One Police Plaza in Lower Manhattan.
The NYPD has a broad array of specialized services, including the Emergency Services Unit, K-9, harbor patrol, air support, bomb disposal, anti-terrorism, criminal intelligence, anti-gang, narcotics, public transportation, even public housing; The New York City Transit Police and New York City Housing Authority Police Department were fully integrated into the NYPD in 1995. According to the department, its mission is to "enforce the laws, preserve the peace, reduce fear, and provide for a safe environment." Members of the NYPD are frequently referred to by the nickname New York's Finest.
House (also known as House, M.D.) is an American television medical drama that originally ran on the Fox network for eight seasons from November 16, 2004, to May 21, 2012. The show's main character is Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie), a drug-addicted, unconventional, misanthropic medical genius who leads a team of diagnosticians at the fictional Princeton–Plainsboro Teaching Hospital (PPTH) in New Jersey.
How are the two related? Well, ZC World's latest offering is the ZCWO 1/6 scale New York Police Officer "Gregory" 12-inch action figure and it is sporting a Hugh Laurie / Dr. Gregory House head sculpt. The figure is called "Gregory" for goodness sake!
I think that's a very strange choice for the NYPD Officer headsculpt - "House" as a cop? It's a nice House head, no doubt about it. But as far as we know, NYPD Officers are not scruffy looking with five c'clock shadow and having the unshaven grunge look. Just don't look right as a cop figure.
Swap out the patches and add in a 1/6 scale Joseph Gordon Levitt head sculpt (if there's one) and this could make a nice TDKR John Blake figure. Well, that's what I intend to do. Buy this, put in aside and wait for the 1/6 scale Joseph Gordon Levitt as John Blake head sculpt to surface, sooner or later.
This is a nice upgrade on the cloth cap and removable badges / insignias over the earlier released LAPD Jack and Tiger (see my posts HERE and HERE). I'm glad I didn't get either of the earlier LAPD Police Officer figures as I much prefer the look of this one
Certainly will make a nice addition to my other 1/6 scale Police 12-inch figures

Most recently, a New York Police Department officer's act of kindness has gone viral online thanks to a photo snapped by a passing tourist. Officer Lawrence DePrimo, 25, of Long Island went into a Skechers shoes store and bought an all-weather boots for a homeless shoeless man whose name he does not know. Jennifer Foster of Florence, Ariz., who was visiting Times Square with her husband on November 14 took a photo and wrote to the NYPD.
Jennifer Foster said, "I have been in law enforcement for 17 years. I was never so impressed in my life. I did not get the officer's name," Foster wrote. "It is important, I think, for all of us to remember the real reason we are in this line of work. The reminder this officer gave to our profession in his presentation of human kindness has not been lost on myself or any of the Arizona law enforcement officials with whom this story has been shared."
It would have been awesome if this figure came with Officer Lawrence DePrimo's 1/6 scale head sculpt and a pair of 1/6 scale all-weather boots as accessory :) It is after all one of the touching moments of 2012.
