Check out Medicom Toys RAH (Real Action Heroes) KickAss2: 1/6 scale Hit Girl female figure

Posted on 09:05 by Unknown
When we last saw junior assassin Hit Girl and young vigilante Kick-Ass, they were trying to live as normal teenagers Mindy and Dave. With graduation looming and uncertain what to do, Dave decides to start the world's first superhero team with Mindy. Unfortunately, when Mindy is busted for sneaking out as Hit Girl, she's forced to retire - leaving her to navigate the terrifying world of high-school mean girls on her own. With no one left to turn to, Dave joins forces with Justice Forever, run by a born-again ex-mobster named Colonel Stars and Stripes. Just as they start to make a real difference on the streets, the world's first super villain, The Mother F%&*^r, assembles his own evil league and puts a plan in motion to make Kick-Ass and Hit Girl pay for what they did to his dad.

After Kick-Ass' insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes, our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist -- reborn as The Mother F%&*^r -- only the blade-wielding Hit Girl can prevent their annihilation. Written by Universal Pictures

This is Medicom Toys upcoming RAH (Real Action Heroes) KickAss2: 1/6 scale Chloë Grace Moretz as Mindy Macready / Hit Girl figure. The dimensions given for her height is 300mm or 12 inches. I wonder if that's to scale since Hit Girl is actually not very tall ;p Medicom Toys has made short female figures before: case in point - Anne Yuri from the Terrestrial Defense Force Ultra Guard (TDF UG) posted HERE. You can check out the height difference in my other post HERE :)

This figure looks really good from the pictures. Unfortunately Medicom Toys pricing and quality still scares me to this day :(

Preview Medicom RAH (Real Action Heroes) 1/6 Guts Band of the Hawk 12" action figure

Posted on 21:42 by Unknown
Berserk (ベルセルク Beruseruku) is a manga series written and illustrated by Kentaro Miura. Set in a medieval Europe-inspired fantasy world, the story centers around the characters of Guts, an orphaned mercenary, and Griffith, the leader of a mercenary band called the Band of the Hawk (鷹の団 Taka no Dan). (source: wiki)

Guts (created by Kentaro Miura) is the main protagonist of Berserk. He was the former raid unit leader of a mercenary group known as the Band of the Hawk. This is the upcoming Medicom RAH 636 Guts Band of the Hawk action figure.

Guts has black hair fitted with constant, short pointy spikes already built from short hair itself. At the base of his hairline, he allows a few strands to hang just above his forehead. He wears bandages over his right hand (a style he has used since the beginning, most likely to assist in handling a sword) and wears a sleeveless white under shirt beneath it, allowing him to move his arms freely.

Guts wears a tan-to-brown coloured set of armour that transitions from leather to a harder material. In addition to this equipment, he is mostly seen in battle wearing a uniquely shaped head-guard that protects all but his mouth. He later discards the helmet upon leaving the Hawks (along with the sword he was using up to that point, due to having been broken in battle by Boscogn).

On his pants there is also a set of armour featured in the groin area most likely for protective purposes.

Without his hood, he is shown to be a man with a young, wrinkle-less face with a scar crossing the bridge of his nose. This upcoming RAH Berserk Guts figure by Medicom appears to be a younger Guts as the older Guts has his right eye shut indefinitely, and it is later revealed that it was taken from him by an Apostle some time before.

The older Guts' left arm was severed from just below the elbow, having been replaced by the Cannon Arm fitted with an arm cannon and has a magnet in the palm portion capable of grasping the rather large blade he carries with him. His outfit consists of a long black cape featured over black-plated armour complete with dark pants and armoured boots.

Check out Dragon Models Limited (DML) 1/6 scale Berserk Guts Black Swordsman 12-inch figure reviewed HERE and HERE which was released as a Japan exclusive in 2003.

Medicom Kubrick Cosmonauts boxed set - Vostok 1 (Russian: Восток-1, East 1 or Orient 1)

Posted on 04:39 by Unknown
This is a repost since today is April 12.

Spacecraft History: Vostok 1(Russian: Восток-1, East 1 or Orient 1) was the first spaceflight in the Vostok program and the first human spaceflight in history. The Vostok 3KA spacecraft was launched on April 12, 1961. The flight took Yuri Gagarin, a cosmonaut from the Soviet Union, into space. The flight marked the first time that a human entered outer space, as well as the first orbital flight of a manned vehicle. Vostok 1 was launched by the Soviet space program, and was designed by Soviet engineers guided by Sergei Korolev under the supervision of Kerim Kerimov and others.

Originally posted on April 18, 2011:
On 12 April 1961, aboard the Vostok 3KA-3 (Vostok 1), Gagarin became both the first human to travel into space, and the first to orbit the earth. On April 12, 2011 the world marked 50 years of Yuri Gagarin’s historic spaceflight that ushered in the era of space exploration. From this year on, April 12 will be celebrated worldwide as International Day of Human Spaceflight.

This Kubrick Cosmonauts boxed set was released in 2003 and featured mini versions of Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, first dog in space Laika, and a surprisingly detailed Vostok spacecraft. Made by Japan's Medicom Toy, Kubrick was a cross between LEGO and Playmobil but modeled to represent celebrities and other pop-culture favorites.

Soviet space dog Laika (Russian: Лайка, literally meaning "Barker"; c. 1954 – November 3, 1957) was the first animal to orbit the Earth – as well as the first animal to die in orbit :( The experiment did prove that a living passenger could survive being launched into orbit and endure weightlessness, paving the way for human spaceflight and providing scientists with some of the first data on how living organisms react to spaceflight environments.

On April 11, 2008, Russian officials unveiled a monument to Laika. A small monument in her honor was built near the military research facility in Moscow which prepared Laika's flight to space. It features a dog standing on top of a rocket.

Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin’s brief, 108 minute, flight proved humans’ ability to fly to the stars, and was a well-deserved triumph of Soviet science and industry and also signified that the USSR had beaten the Americans to space.

The Medicom Toy Kubrick Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin figure comes with removable helmet.

It certainly has all the bells and whistles crafted on it - stunningly good

And here are some milestones in space exploration to share, from the world's first satellite (Sputnik 1) to first man in space (Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin), first woman in space (Cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova) and first man to space walk (Cosmonaut Alexei Leonov), all were Russians until Neil Armstrong's walk on the Moon. Pre-order Medicom Toys RAH "Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol" Ethan Hunt Figure

Posted on 19:41 by Unknown
A Japanese Import by Medicom Toys Corp.

"Good morning, agent. Today's mission, should you choose to accept it: Seek out this 1:6 scale figure of fellow agent Ethan Hunt. This Real Action Hero is the first authentic replication of Tom Cruise as Agent Hunt, and captures him just prior to his climb of the Burj Khalifa tower in Dhubai. Standing approximately 12 inches high with climbing gloves, pistol and figure stand included, and using Medicom's superior RAH301KAI body, this RAH (Real Action Hero) should not be allowed to fall into the wrong hands. The IMF will disavow any knowledge of extended playtime, or of your turning your bookshelves into an imaginary skyscraper."

"Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol", an all out action film released in 2011, is the fourth installment in the "Mission: Impossible" series. It stars Tom Cruise, who reprises his role of IMF (Impossible Missions Force) Agent Ethan Hunt, and is director Brad Bird's first live-action film.

The head sculpt looks pretty good as the resemblance to Tom Cruise is there with a pretty spot-on likeness but the goggles seem to be permanently attached to his face as all the available pictures show Ethan wearing the goggles. Being a Medicom Toys figure which is mostly under scale i.e. not really 1/6 but more like 1/7 scale, this figure might be just the right height ;p since Tom Cruise is not the tallest of actors.

Isn't it terrible that the company would show off their prototype with the obvious split seam showing on the action figure's left leg? Consumers and collectors are already worried about Medicom Toys sub-par poor quality RAH 12-inch figure bodies and they go and show a product that has exactly that problem. The guy who took the picture and the one who approved its use ought to be fired.

Tom Cruise performed a sequence where Ethan Hunt scales the outside of the Burj Khalifa tower, which is the tallest building in the world, without the use of a stunt double. Although Cruise appears to be free solo climbing in the film with the help of special gloves, in reality he was securely attached to the Burj Khalifa at all times by multiple cables. The cables were then digitally erased in post-production by Industrial Light & Magic. Following Cruise's example, Patton and Seydoux also chose to forgo the use of stunt doubles for their fight scene at the Burj Khalifa where Carter exacts her revenge upon Moreau for Hanaway's death.

Accessories and outfit Ethan Hunt used for the climb in Dhubai

The SIG-Sauer P226 E2 is seen in the hands of Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and William Brandt (Jeremy Renner). It appears to be the standard IMF sidearm. In several scenes, the white "E2" is visible on the right side of the slide, confirming the pistols' identity.

Comparing 12-inch Boba Fett Action Figures by Marmit, Medicom Toys and Sideshow Collectibles

Posted on 17:22 by Unknown
Just how many 1/6 scale Boba Fett 12-inch Bounty Hunter figures are out there? Hasbro released the first original 12-inch Boba Fett action figure way back in 1979 but that one was plastic molded and upsized from the 3 3/4-inch figure which wouldn't count since it is not fabric clothed with accessories and weapon. Hasbro would release two more 1/6 Boba Fett action figures, the really fugly obese version in 1997 using the bulky Hall-of-Fame 12-inch body and the 2004 Vintage Original Trilogy Collection 12-inch Boba Fett which was an improvement but still fell short of the standard expected for a Star Wars 12-inch figure. No pictures posted sinceI didn't get any one of the three by Hasbro.

So not counting the three by Hasbro (some say "Has-been"), there's also one 12-inch Boba Fett by Marmit (released in 2001), two by Medicom Toys and the most recent 1:6 Boba Fett figure produced and released by Sideshow Collectibles. As far as I can tell, of all the seven Boba Fett 12-inch figures released so far, all except one (which is Medicom Toys' version 2 Boba Fett) is based on the Boba Fett as seen in "Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back".

In this toy blog post, I'll be showing comparison pictures of the three 1/6 scale Boba Fett 12-inch figures released by Marmit, Medicom and Sideshow Collectibles in my Star Wars 12-inch figure collection. All are based on Boba Fett as seen in "The Empire Strikes Back". The most distinct difference between the two film versions of Boba Fett are the gauntlets (green in ESB and red in ROTJ - "Return of the Jedi"). There are other differences as well and I have covered these in my earlier post HERE.

Just like what "TheRightEarOfNash" said in one of the comments, "No one has managed to get the color pallet right for ESB Boba Fett." All three ESB Boba Fetts (starting from left: Sideshow Collectibles Boba Fett, Medicom Toys Boba Fett and Marmit Boba Fett) have different color schemes / paints on their helmets and armor. I think Medicom's Boba Fett jet pack is of the wrong size as it appears to be too big on the figure. The rocket portion protrudes out from the back and can be seen from the front. That is not the case with Marmit's and Sideshow's Boba Fett figure which is in line with screen grabs and shots taken of Boba Fett as seen in the films.

Here's a comparison of the Marmit 1/6 scale Boba Fett 12-inch figure with the recently released Sideshow Collectibles sixth scale Boba Fett 12-inch bounty hunter figure. In terms of size, Sideshow's ESB Boba Fett figure is slightly taller by a bit. Details wise, Sideshow Collectibles 12-inch Boba Fett is much more decked out and detailed than the Marmit Boba Fett figure which was released more than ten years ago.

Scroll down to see the turnaround views and comparison pictures of Sideshow Collectibles Boba Fett 12-inch figure and Marmit 1:6 scale Boba Fett bounty hunter.

Interestingly enough, Marmit Boba Fett has spats around his ankles over the ties. In the Star Wars films, Boba Fett only wore spats in "Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi", along with red gauntlets and a more colorful jetpack.

And now comparison pictures of Medicom Toys ESB Boba Fett figure with Sideshow Collectibles Boba Fett. Medicom Toys Boba Fett is way too short and puny to be considered a 1/6th scale figure (more like 1/7th scale) as you can see from the height and size differences between Medicom Toys Boba Fett vs. Sideshow Collectibles Boba Fett figure.

It is because of Medicom Toys size issues (TOO SMALL) and price issues (TOO HIGH) that stopped me from collecting Medicom figures completely. That and the fact that some of their figures BREAK apart (BRITTLE bodies) for no apparent reason (BAD DESIGN). Not to mention Medicom's bio-degradable costumes that are designed to disintegrate, flake / peel and fall off over a short period of time (LOW QUALITY). See my post HERE on cracking rubber bodies and disintegrating suits.

Medicom Toys Boba Fett figure is small sized (puny) yet has a HUGE rocket jetpack - guess those guys at Medicom feel that they must over compensate for something they are lacking haha. The rocket protrudes too much from the back so much so that you can see it from the front over the helmet. If that isn't over compensating, then I don't know what is.

So finally we can have a sixth scale Boba Fett 12-inch figure we can be proud of - Sideshow Collectibles Star Wars Scum and Villainy 1/6th scale Boba Fett 12-inch Figure. If only Sideshow Collectibles can do something about their articulated Prometheus 1.1 body which is still pretty weak at the joints which makes it rather hard to hold any pose other than the standing upright posture.
